Recent buy – Microsoft Corporation

Last week I sold one of my Mutual funds. As I wrote in my month review (here), I calculated that the low ROI of this mutual fund was not compensated by all the tax advantages. So that made the decision very easy and I sold this fund. With this cash, together with the dividend I collected in April and May, I have enough money to make two new purchases.

Which stock to choose? Because I’m a firm believer of “time in the market, rather than timing the market” I did some digging. I started of course with my watch list (here).

My first purchase this month is in the Information Technology sector. This is a sector that is not present in my Vrijheid Fonds at this moment. So I did my Pollie-style analysis on Microsoft and decided to pull the trigger this afternoon.

Today (June 1) I bought 32 shares of Microsoft Corporation at $47.09 per share (incl. fees). For more information and my analysis on MSFT just read my analysis here.

With this buy, I added a little bit more than € 15 (after taxes) of dividend to my Vrijheid Fonds for this year. The projected dividend income for 2016 for MSFT is € 30.

Again a small step in my journey. And one step closer to my goal.

Has anyone else invested in this company recently? Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

Pollie

    hey Pollies,

DGI investing is not on my radar yet, maybe in 2 years from now… But I always find it helpful and insightful to see how dividend investors get into the market. Especiall the part where you see how much cash it will bring, each year!

Congratz with your buy and good luck with your Vrijheid Fonds.

      Hello amber,

Why wait for two more years?
When you start early the power of compounding can really be effective!

Learning for others, and educate yourself is really important!

      Cheers,

I don’t own MSFT, I prefered AAPL! 😛 But having technology in your portfolio is a good thing in my point of view. Some nice growth going on there!

    Cheers,

    Mike

    Pollies,

Cool purchase! I think you’ll enjoy microsoft as their products are very strong and global, easily. Further, they’ve had quite interesting, in a good way, events in regards to their dividend policy – one that I am sure you’ll enjoy. Congrats again Pollies!
