Recent Buy – JNJ

What a lovely decline in the market. It is like I’m walking in a candy store. Too bad that not all good stocks are on sale. But I’m patient. Already one stock, which is on my watch list, was on sale this week. And Yes I pulled the tricker 😉

Yesterday I bought 30 shares of Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) at $95.38 per share.

JNJ does not need an introduction. If I look at 12 DGI’s which have a blog, 9 of them own JNJ-stocks. And if you’re reading and you think, JNJ who or what is that (I can’t hardly believe it)? Just read my analysis of JNJ here.

With this buy, I added a little bit more than $ 70 (after taxes) of dividend to my Vrijheid Fonds. Again a small step in my journey and a step closer to my goal.

Has anyone else invested in this company recently? Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

Pollie

      Hi DH,

Thanks for your kind words. I really like JNJ. Yesterday I had my computer on at the right time, to buy on a intraday dip. I’m glad i’m an owner.
Hopefully tomorrow looks good for you!

Nice purchase Pollie. I kept waiting for the 3% yield mark around $93, but that never came. Missed out this round…will keep watching to buy more in the future.

A great company to keep adding to the portfolio
    Best wishes

    Dear Pollie,

I think JNJ is a good stock, I bought PFE instead. Both compagnies are strong players on the pharmaceutical market. JNJ is the most divers of both stock. Sure a solid investment.

    Pollies,

Congrats! One of the foundation stocks that is always worth an addition to one’s portfolios on Dips, especially when it was just trading above $107/a share a week or so ago. Last week I did buy more McDonalds, AT&T and GSK. It looks as though I may be adding more to one of those companies possibly next week, depending on what Monday looks like. I have to tell you though, the market on Weds/Thurs were insane – with the extreme drops to rises in the same day. It almost hurts tracking it throughout the day to be honest. Anyways.. haha – great job Pollies, nice addition!

      Hi Lanny,
What an insane couple of days. In the beginning a dip and to the end a rise. I bought JNJ in the morning in a dip. A great stock which will becone one of my corner stone of my portfolio.
MCD I’m thinking about. I’m reading up on them to give myself a feeling the will conquer their current problems.
T a great stock which i have and which is generating nice income.
GSK is on my watch list.
All togethet great stocks. Lets hope for some more crazy days 😉
      Have a nice weekend,
      Cheers,

JNJ is a great long term buy. I have owned it for many years and plan to keep it for decades. I know it has been getting some good attention in recent days from many DGI bloggers as the stock tumbled from its highs. When Mr. Market give you a sale, take advantage. I’d love to add more to my position but I am focused on my TD and BNS for now.

      Hello DivHut,

Thanks for your comment. JNJ is a really good stock and will be the corner stone of my portfolio for many years. Last week was weird with highs and lows in one day.
And yes if mr market gives you a change, you have to take advantage.
      Cheers,

    Pollie,
Very nice addition to your portfolio. When I switched from index funds to dividend stocks at the beginning of 2013, JNJ, PEP, and PG were my first 3 purchases. I have not added JNJ recently, but it is still the 4th largest holding (PEP, AAPL, and PG are the top 3).

I initiated a position in UTX to my portfolio on this dip, and added more shares of GE. I was very light on Industrials, but these additions raised it to 6.2% of the total. I also added shares of ARCP since it just keeps dropping and the yield is now 8.4%.

If the dip becomes a full fledged correction, and the market drops another 10%, JNJ would be one of those companies that you could buy even more shares for the long term. I have 16% cash on the sidelines waiting for just such an opportunity. But waiting for a great deal means that you sometimes miss the good deals, and I think JNJ under $100 is a good deal that will reward you for many years to come.
Be blessed, and be a blessing!

      Hello keithX,
Yes JNJ is a nice addition to my portfolio.
I was waiting to buy for a very long time. The dip this week was a great opportunity.
Your three new buys are great companies. The dividend will be rolling in
At this moment i have still some cash left, waiting for a good price for PG.
Hope the market will drop some more for us!
      Cheers,

Truly a great company and wonderful buy! I would have loved to bought JNJ on this recent dip but lacked the investment money. I’ll definitely will be adding JNJ to my portfolio at some point. I’m hoping this market keeps up the wild ride and can continue giving us some deals.
