Dividend Increase AFLAC

This week AFLAC Incorporated (AFL) announced a 4.7% increase in its quarterly dividend. The dividend is raised from $0.43 to $0.45. The dividend pay date is December 1, 2017 to shareholders of record on November 15, 2017 (ex dividend November 14, 2017). This is the 35th Consecutive Annual Increase.




CEO Daniel P. Amos stated:

We are pleased that our third quarter and year to date financial results in both Japan and the U.S. reflected solid performance and continued our progress toward achieving the company’s objectives for 2017….
We remain committed to maintaining strong capital ratios on behalf of our policyholders and all stakeholders. …
The board of directors’ action to increase the quarterly dividend by 4.7% demonstrates our commitment to rewarding our shareholders. This marks the 35th consecutive year of increasing our cash dividend. Our dividend policy is guided by growth in operating earnings per share along with free cash flow generation and capital quality.


Vrijheid Fonds

The new dividend amount represents an annualized dividend amount of $1.80 per share, up from $1.72. The dividend yield on current price is 2.05 %.

My Vrijheid Fonds consist of 24 shares of AFLAC, my annual dividends will increase by $1.63 (after taxes). For 2017 my dividends will increase by $ 0.41 after taxes.

My projected annual total amount (2017) from my shares of AFL will be $37.72 after taxes.

This is my 27th­ dividend increase in 2017 for my Vrijheid Fonds!!!

    Pollies –

    While not the largest increase, they stuck with their traditional 2 cents or almost 5% raise. I do hope they see their yield is lower and that they should get that up from a 4.5-5.0% growth to 7%, all I can do is ask!
