Dividend increase of AT&T
This morning AT&T (T) announced a 2.1% increase in its quarterly dividend. The dividend is raised from $0.48 to $0.49. The dividend pay date is February 1, 2017 to shareholders of record on January 10, 2017 (ex dividend January 6, 2017). This is the 33rd Consecutive Annual Increase.
Vrijheid Fonds
The new dividend amount represents an annualized dividend amount of $1.96 per share, up from $1.92. The dividend yield on current price is 5.23 %. My Vrijheid Fonds consist of 60 shares of T, so my annual dividends will increase by $0.51.
My projected annual total amount from my shares of T will be $99.96 after taxes.
While AT&T’s dividend increase is small in size, I think it’s better than no increase!
Time Warner Deal
Furthermore, last weekend AT&T announced the take over of Time Warner. What the exact details are of this take over, I do not know yet. And what will it do with the dividend?
As you can read I still have plenty of questions about this take over.
Let me know what your thoughts are about this Time Warner deal.
I think they raised it early in hopes of staving off a big sell off. But as it drops it will be very tempting to pick up more shares. I currently own 20 so we will see what it does. Once this goes through ATT will have a huge amount of debt about 180 million so it will be interesting
I am a TWX shareholder and really hope the deal goes through! If it does, AT&T will have many options at their disposal (including DirecTV which they already own)
I’m still reading about the deal. I do not made my mind up yet
